When to edit a receipt
Stareceipt's AI recognition is accurate for most captures, but you may need to edit an entry when:
- A field was misread (e.g. a digit was swapped in the total amount).
- The category was not what you expected — merchant rules may not yet exist for this vendor.
- You want to add context: a note, a tag, or a project label.
- You want to attach a supporting document (e.g. a warranty card or delivery confirmation).
Opening the edit view
Web:
- Open the receipt list in any ledger.
- Click on the receipt entry to open the detail panel.
- Click Edit (pencil icon) in the top-right of the panel.
Mobile:
- Tap the receipt entry in the list.
- Tap the pencil icon or the Edit button at the bottom of the screen.
Editable fields
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Date | The transaction date — independent of when you uploaded the receipt. |
| Total amount | The final charged amount including tax. |
| Tax amount | GST, HST, VAT, or any other tax figure printed on the receipt. |
| Merchant name | Visible and editable in shared receipt-detail models. |
| Category | Select from your organisation's category list. |
| Currency | Useful for foreign-currency receipts — see Multi-currency Receipts. |
| Labels / Tags | Add one or more labels for cross-ledger filtering — see Labels & Tags. |
| Note | Free-text field for any context you want to attach (e.g. "Client dinner — quarterly review"). |
Click Save when done. Changes are synced to all devices immediately.
Review actions
Current shared clients also support explicit review actions for receipts that still need confirmation.
Attachments
Shared receipt APIs and detail views include attachment support. If your client exposes attachment editing, use the attachment controls inside the receipt detail view.
Ledger switching
Current shared receipt-detail flows can move a receipt to another ledger / organisation using the switch-ledger action.
What this page does not assume
This page does not assume a universal re-recognition button, image-replacement action, bulk-edit surface, or end-user activity-log panel unless your current client explicitly exposes those controls.
