Frequently asked questions

Is my bank statement uploaded?

No. Parsing, preview, and file generation happen inside a dedicated browser worker. Stareceipt does not receive the selected file or its financial contents.

Which OFX files are supported?

OFX 1.x SGML and OFX 2.x XML bank and credit-card statements using UTF-8 or Windows-1252. Transaction lists must include DTSTART and DTEND. Investment, loan, and mixed unsupported message sets are rejected rather than partly exported.

Does the download contain every transaction?

Yes. The preview is paged, but each download contains every supported statement and transaction in the selected file, in source order, including duplicates.

Why is XLSX recommended for identifiers?

XLSX stores account IDs, FITIDs, check numbers, and source text explicitly as text. CSV cannot control how another spreadsheet application guesses column types.
