What is QR code login
QR code login lets you sign in to the Stareceipt web application on any browser by scanning a code with your already-authenticated mobile app. Because the mobile app holds a valid session, the desktop session is authorised immediately — you do not need to type your password or an OTP code.
This is useful when:
- You are on a shared or unfamiliar computer and do not want to type your credentials.
- Your two-factor authentication device is your phone and you want a faster flow.
- You want to switch between desktop and mobile without re-entering credentials.
Requirements
- Stareceipt mobile app installed on your iPhone or iPad. Android support will apply to invited beta builds and later Google Play releases.
- You must already be signed in on the mobile app.
- The QR login session is short-lived and expires automatically. If the page says the code expired, refresh it and scan again.
How to sign in via QR code
On the browser (desktop or tablet)
- Go to app.stareceipt.com.
- On the sign-in page, click Sign in with QR code.
- A QR code is displayed. Keep this tab open and do not refresh.
On your phone
- Open the Stareceipt mobile app.
- Open the in-app QR login scanner entry.
- Point your camera at the QR code on the screen.
- Tap Authorise in the confirmation prompt that appears on your phone.
The browser tab refreshes automatically and you are signed in.
Security details
- Each QR code is single-use. Scanning it a second time has no effect.
- The code encodes a short-lived token tied to your session; it does not contain your password.
- If the QR code expires, click Refresh code on the sign-in page to generate a new one.
- If you did not initiate the sign-in request, tap Deny on your phone instead of Authorise. Your account is not affected.
- Authorising a QR code grants the same session permissions as a normal sign-in on that device.
Troubleshooting
The browser does not refresh after I scan
- Check that your phone has an active internet connection.
- Try tapping Authorise again if the prompt is still visible.
- If the code has expired, click Refresh code and scan the new code.
I cannot find the QR scanner entry in the mobile app

The camera does not open in the app
Grant camera permission to the Stareceipt app in your device settings:
- iOS: Settings → Stareceipt → Camera → Allow.
- Android: on an invited beta or later Google Play build, use Settings → Apps → Stareceipt → Permissions → Camera → Allow.
